Tarkir is the plane where the Khans of Tarkir block takes place. It is based on the lore and history of the Mongol Empire, and is considered to be inspired by the plane of Mongseng.
Tarkir is the rugged home of Sarkhan Vol, and for ages has been ravaged by ambitious warlords. It was previously inhabited by dragons, all of whom were killed during Sarkhan's period of servitude. The warlords are now fighting over every scrap of territory. The clans have co-opted ancient draconic magic to disguise their strength and create ambushes for each other.
