For Magic a spoiler is any remark or piece of information which reveals themes, mechanics or cards from upcoming sets, thus denying the regular player the suspense of playing with a new expansion. They may be copyright infringements. There are also official spoilers, as part of the marketing strategy for a set.

Sites like MTGNews and MTG Salvation are known, loved and hated for their spoilers. Sources for spoilers used to be, or are, early releases of magazines like InQuest, The Duelist, Lotus Noir, Mana Roug and Scrye; Japanese, South American or European websites who get their official spoilers early; foreign printings; art previews; panels at conventions; Ultra Pro products; official dealers and digital leaks.

Notorious spoilers
