One of the key principles of the Church of Avacyn refers to the conditions of death. For citizens of Innistrad, a perfect life would not be an eternal one but one with a rest or "sleep" after death.
The "blessed sleep" is an eternity of quiet oblivion, much better than the shame of becoming a troubled spirit, a maimed body, or an undead abomination, as often happens in Innistrad. The blessed sleep is considered a reward for a virtuous and vigilant life.
"Would you pass eternity on earth" is a common blessing for their dead, among the people of Innistrad.
