Duel Decks: Sorin vs. Tibalt is the 11th set in the Duel Decks series. It was released on March 15, 2013, with an MSRP is US$19.99. [1]

Sorin vs. Tibalt contains two preconstructed theme decks, one centered around Sorin, Lord of Innistrad and the other around Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded. Sorin vs. Tibalt depicts the rivalry of two planeswalkers and is a set of largely flavor-based theme decks.

Sorin vs. Tibalt features two cards with alternate art and holographic foil treatment; Sorin, Lord of Innistrad and Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded[2]. Furthermore, the set includes another 6 cards with alternate art; Blightning, Browbeat, Death Grasp, Mortify, Spectral Procession and Lingering Souls, which is illustrated with the exclusive art of it's already seen FNM promo card[3] . A further 10 cards are newly printed in the modern frame: Tainted Field, Mesmeric Fiend, Ancient Craving, Death Grasp, Decompose, Field of Souls, Blazing Salvo, Breaking Point, Recoup and Sulfuric Vortex.

In addition to this, the Duel Deck contains a Magic "learn to play" guide, a strategy inset, and two copies of a Manaw.gif 1/1 spirit with flying creature token, produced by several cards in Sorin's deck.

Sorin Markov and Tibalt are both non-human planeswalkers on Innistrad, where humans are seen as a source of blood and thus power, by the vampires; prey, by the werewolves; and targets for torment, by demons and devils.

Although one of the oldest, first-generation vampires "turned" on Innistrad, Markov took disdain to the prolific predation upon humans, resulting in a diminishing of the human population. When Markov suggested moderation, other vampire families were affronted and resented him for the suggestion. Markov, a planeswalker, scoured planes to find a solution to the problem on his home plane and created Avacyn to protect the people of Innistrad.

Tibalt, on the other hand, was initially a human mage gifted with pain magic. Tibalt's planeswalker spark ignited when a his essence was merged with infernal devils of Innistrad, following a dark invocation. Now, with these new-found powers, Tibalt would travel the Multiverse in search for new unfortunates upon whom he would inflict pain and torment. Notwithstanding such freedom, Tibalt had a profound and expressed predilection for the people of Innistrad.

With his experience and wisdom, in large part due to his otherworldly longevity, Sorin knows that the humans of Innistrad may not only fail to thrive but lose their grip on survival if the monsters of Innistrad continue to hunt them too recklessly and aggressively. In stark contrast, Tibalt, a capricious and young pain-mage, remains irreverent to authority or consequences and only respects his vicious whimsy.
